My analysis shows that while only 6% of these roles are leadership positions like Directors of IT and Heads of IT, the purchasing decisions clearly sit with IT leadership. These leaders prioritize security, compliance, and scalability as they hire teams to support Slack Enterprise Grid. One Director of IT role explicitly mentions ownership of ISO27001 and TISAX certification, while another focuses on building IT functions that support business long-term. Strategic buyers care about enterprise-grade governance, identity management integration with Okta and Azure AD, and automation capabilities.

The day-to-day users are predominantly IT administrators and systems engineers who make up 44% of these roles. These practitioners manage user provisioning, configure SSO and SCIM integrations, build Slack workflows and bots, handle security policies, and provide technical support. They work extensively with APIs, automate onboarding and offboarding processes, and maintain integrations with platforms like Salesforce, Jira, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365. The hands-on work involves balancing productivity with security controls across globally distributed teams.

I noticed recurring themes around scaling challenges and security requirements. Companies seek people who can "design automated workflows that connect SaaS tools with internal systems" and "implement security measures" while supporting rapid growth. Multiple postings mention the need to "streamline processes," "drive automation," and ensure "secure, compliant, and scalable integration." One role specifically calls for someone to "turn complex manual problems into streamlined, automated workflows that allow us to scale securely," capturing the core tension between growth velocity and governance that Enterprise Grid customers face.

I noticed that Slack Enterprise Grid customers operate in complex, technology-driven industries where they're building sophisticated platforms rather than simple products. Clover Health creates a software platform that aggregates patient data to support physician decision-making in Medicare Advantage plans. MoEngage built what they call an "agentic customer engagement platform" that combines analytics, AI, and orchestration tools. Both companies are fundamentally selling platform solutions that require significant technical infrastructure and cross-functional coordination.

These are well-funded growth companies that have reached significant scale. Both sit in the 500-1,000 employee range, suggesting they've moved past early startup chaos but aren't yet massive enterprises. Clover is post-IPO with $300M in recent funding, while MoEngage has raised $77M in secondary market funding. They've achieved product-market fit and are now scaling operations, which means their internal communication needs are complex and growing rapidly.

I noticed something striking about Slack Enterprise Grid customers: they're overwhelmingly fast-growth companies obsessed with employee productivity and internal operations at scale. The presence of tools like Golinks, Glean, and ZipHQ tells me these organizations have grown quickly enough that information discovery became a real problem. They're not just using Slack for chat, they're building entire internal knowledge ecosystems.

The pairing of Glean and Golinks is particularly revealing. When a company invests in enterprise search (Glean) alongside custom short links (Golinks), they're dealing with information overload from rapid scaling. They've accumulated so many documents, Slack channels, and internal resources that employees can't find what they need. Adding ZipHQ to this mix confirms they're fighting organizational chaos with collaboration tools. Meanwhile, Okta appearing 394 times more often makes perfect sense because these companies need serious identity management when they're managing dozens of SaaS applications for large, distributed teams.

The full stack screams Series B through pre-IPO stage companies that are sales-led or balanced go-to-market organizations. Box Enterprise and Okta suggest they're handling sensitive data and compliance requirements, which points to enterprise sales motions. Culture Amp's strong presence tells me they're large enough to worry about engagement and retention metrics across hundreds or thousands of employees. These aren't scrappy startups or mature enterprises. they're in that crucial scaling phase where operational excellence becomes critical.
