I noticed that G2's typical customer operates in the software and technology sector, but with a very specific profile. These are companies that build enterprise software platforms, SaaS products, or technology infrastructure. They create solutions for other businesses, whether that's cybersecurity tools, financial management platforms, ERP systems, marketing automation, or payment processing. A significant subset also serves vertical-specific needs like real estate management, construction, or public sector administration. These aren't consumer apps or hardware manufacturers. They're B2B technology companies selling software solutions to other enterprises.

These companies span the full spectrum of business maturity, but most sit in the growth-to-mature range. I see Series B through Series F funding rounds, plenty of private equity and secondary market transactions, and several post-IPO entities. Employee counts cluster heavily in the 1,000 to 5,000 range, though some reach 10,000 plus. The combination of substantial funding history, four-digit employee counts, and established customer bases suggests these are scaling or scaled companies, not early startups.
