These aren't fintech startups disrupting banking. They're established institutions helping everyday people buy homes, save for retirement, and manage their finances. A handful are financial technology companies like Lili and Advizr that support advisors or small businesses, plus one wealth management platform (Orion).

These are mature, stable enterprises. The average credit union in this dataset was founded between 1930 and 1955, with many celebrating 70-plus years in business. Asset sizes range from under $200 million to over $9 billion, with most falling between $500 million and $2 billion. Employee counts typically range from 50 to 500, with a few reaching 1,000-plus. Very few show venture funding, and when they do, it's modest.
