I noticed that Fastly Image Optimizer attracts companies that need to display high-quality product imagery and visual content at scale. These are predominantly retail operations (automotive dealerships, apparel stores, sporting goods), entertainment venues (arenas, theaters, convention centers), and service providers (banks, financial institutions, professional associations). They're selling tangible products or experiences that require compelling visual presentation, whether that's vehicles on a dealer website, concert photos at an arena, or product catalogs for retailers.

These are overwhelmingly mature, established enterprises. The employee counts cluster in the 50-200 range for smaller operations and 500-5,000+ for larger ones. Very few show recent funding rounds, most list no funding stage at all, indicating they're profitable, self-sustaining businesses rather than venture-backed startups. The multiple decades of operation (many founded in the 1980s or earlier) and stable business models confirm this maturity.

I noticed that Fastly Image Optimizer users are predominantly e-commerce companies, particularly those operating at enterprise scale. The overwhelming presence of Adobe Commerce Cloud, Magento, and Dealeron (automotive dealer platform) tells me these are businesses that need to serve high-quality product images to large customer bases while maintaining fast page load times. They're selling physical goods online where visual presentation directly impacts conversion rates.

The pairing of Adobe Commerce Cloud with Fastly Image Optimizer makes perfect sense because enterprise e-commerce sites have thousands of product images that need to load quickly across different devices and connection speeds. Similarly, Dealeron's strong presence indicates automotive dealerships face the same challenge with vehicle photography. The high correlation with Amazon Ads suggests these companies are running sophisticated paid acquisition campaigns where landing page speed affects their ad performance and cost per acquisition. Adobe Experience Cloud's presence confirms they're investing heavily in personalization and customer experience optimization, which only works if the underlying infrastructure can deliver content fast.

The full stack reveals these are mature, marketing-led organizations with substantial revenue at stake. They're not startups experimenting with basic tools. They're established businesses that have already committed to enterprise platforms and are now optimizing their performance edge. The combination of expensive commerce platforms, paid advertising infrastructure, and premium CDN services suggests they have healthy margins and view technology as a competitive advantage rather than a cost center.
