These are companies creating operational infrastructure: log management systems, supply chain planning tools, mobile data capture forms, customer data platforms, and operations execution software. They sell to other businesses who need to manage complex processes, whether that's urgent care facilities tracking patient flow, retailers optimizing inventory, or restaurants ensuring food safety compliance.

My analysis shows these are primarily scaling growth companies and established mid-market players. The employee counts cluster around to 500 people, with several in the 500 to 2,000 range. Many have reached Series C or later funding stages, or taken private equity investment, signaling they've proven product-market fit and are now focused on expansion. A few are smaller consultancies, but even those position themselves as execution partners for enterprise clients, not early-stage experimenters.
